"Back to December" from the album Speak Now by Taylor Swift is a simple song, but sometimes the simple songs really touch the heart. In this context this song has the power to do that because the focus is on repenting from past sin in a broken relationship. Based on the words of the song it seems like it is so broken that they have not seen or talked to each other in months or at least have not had any meaningful conversation.
In the song though the writer is searching for a way to restore that broken relationship and is asking to be restored to the former blessings. To the good and great things that she once enjoyed. If the Church choose this song and took it to heart and waited on the Lord then surely the gift of salvation will be given to her. And with that all the broken pieces in this world will begin to be restored to their former glory. And surely all will be made well.
