If Jesus is willing to die for us to fulfill that promise then surely he is willing to continue to fulfill that promise now that he has been resurrected. For when he gave us his life for our sins he knew our weaknesses, he knew surely there would come a time when his children would go wayward like they always have, yet he went and gave his life away. It is on that basis that I can say with full assurance that if we just repent of our sins, surrender our lives to him and ask him to save us from our wickedness then surely he will act swiftly to destroy every evil thing that stands between us and him. This I can say with full assurance because my own experience is a testimony to that.

The Call
The song "When You're Gone" by Avril Lavigne in my opinion is one of her best and it beautifully describes how Jesus feels for his Church. A lover experiencing deep feelings of pain for his lover because of the time apart that they have had. When Jesus died on the cross he gave his followers a promise of engagement marked by the scares he received when crucified. That promise is to us, to be our "faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as sorrow." (Nina Callaway, About.com)
